Mit Erlass vom sechsten Dezember hat das niedersächsische Ministerium für Wissenschaft und Kultur Herrn PD Dr. Diethelm Johannsmann, Max-Planck-Institut für Polymerforschung, Mainz, den Ruf auf die C3-Professur für Physikalische Chemie erteilt.
PD Dr. Johannsmann studierte in Bonn und Heidelberg Physik (1979 - 86) und promovierte bei Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Knoll, Max-Planck-Institut für Polymerforschung in Mainz, über "Quarzresonatoren zur viskoelastischen Analyse" (1988 - 1991), anschließend ging er für zwei Jahre als Postdoc zu Professor Dr. Yuen-Ron Shen an die Universität Berkeley in Kalifornien (1991 - 1993).
Seit 1993 bis heute ist PD Dr. Johannsmann am Max-Planck-Institut für Polymerforschung in Mainz als Wissenschaftler tätig und leitet eine eigene Forschergruppe. Seine Arbeitsgebiete sind die Mikromechanik von weicher Materie und die Oberflächeneigenschaften von Polymeren.
