Immer mehr Daten werden digital erfasst. Doch die Verarbeitung ist streckenweise noch mühsam, wie beispielsweise die Antwort auf Fragen wie: Was ist die Quintes-senz eines fachwissenschaftlichen Artikels? Welcher Hersteller bietet für die Fertigung das nötig gebrauchte Kleinteil?
Business Intelligence kann umfangreiche Datenbestände schnell nach Mustern und Beziehungen auswerten. Es kann die Erstellung von Analysen von Tage auf Sekunden reduzieren. Ziel ist es, alles notwendige Wissen über ein Unternehmen so auszuwerten, dass den Managern eine vernünftige Entscheidungsgrundlage vorliegt. Doch nicht nur Betriebsergebnisse, sondern auch Management-Leistungen werden so transparent.
