Wie ändert sich das Wohnen im Informationszeitalter? Werden unsere Städte - durchgeplante und kontrollierte Festungen der Finanzwelt und des Konsums - lebenswert bleiben? Wie wirkt sich die wachsende Abhängigkeit von elektronischer Kommunikation aus? Warum sind die chaotischen, wild wuchernden Städte der Entwicklungsländer so faszinierend? Diesen Fragen geht Peter Weibel, Leiter des Zentrums für Kunst und Medientechnologie (ZKM) Karlsruhe, in einem Vortrag an der Fachhochschule Stuttgart - Hochschule für Technik nach. Der Künstler, Ausstellungskurator, Kunst- und Medientheoretiker spricht am Donnerstag, 23. Mai, auf Einladung des Fachbereichs Architektur über "Die Stadt im Informationszeitalter". Der Vortrag ist öffentlich und beginnt um 17.30 Uhr in der Aula.
Peter Weibel, 1944 in Odessa geboren, studierte Literatur, Film, Mathematik, Medizin und Philosophie in Wien und Paris. Seit 1999 ist er Chef des Zentrums für Kunst und Medientechnologie in Karlsruhe. Seit einiger Zeit beschäftigt er sich unter anderem mit der Zukunft der postmodernen zeitgenössischen Stadt und hat dazu einige provokante Thesen entwickelt.
