Das InnovationsCentrum Biokatalyse (ICBio) ist eine Initiative zur nachhaltigen Förderung der Biotechnologie in Deutschland. Die Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (DBU) hat diese Initiative an der Technischen Universität Hamburg-Harburg bewilligt.
Das mit rund 8 Millionen Euro Volumen ausgestattete ICBio wird insgesamt neun Projekte in Deutschland koordinieren. Die Technische Universität Hamburg-Harburg und die Hansestadt Hamburg bauen durch das deutschlandweit einzigartige ICBio ihre Kompetenz in Sachen Biotechnologie kontinuierlich aus. Es ist zu erwarten, dass sich die neue Initiative zu einer wichtigen Säule der bundesdeutschen Biotechnologie entwickeln wird.
