Wissenschaftlern gelingt eindeutiger Nachweis von Antiwasserstoff-Atomen
Erstmals ist es Forschern am europäischen Teilchenphysik-Zentrum CERN gelungen, einen Blick in das Innere von Antiwasserstoff-Atomen zu werfen. An der ATRAP-Kollaboration sind Wissenschaftler des Max-Planck-Instituts für Quantenoptik, des Forschungszentrums Jülich sowie der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München beteiligt. Der spektakuläre Nachweis der Antiwasserstoff-Atome gelang durch ein eindeutiges, störungsfreies Signal. Die Wissenschaftler sind jetzt in der Lage, pro Stunde mehr Antiwasserstoff-Atome zu erzeugen als jemals zuvor nachgewiesen wurden. In einer Veröffentlichung in der heutigen Ausgabe der Physical Review Letters (29. Oktober 2002) berichten die Forscher von mehr als 1400 kalten Antiwasserstoff-Atomen.
