In der Teilnehmerversammlung dieses Kongresses wurde er zum Mitglied des Councils of European Congresses of Entomology nominiert.
Vom 7.-13. Oktober 2002 hat der Tierökologen Professor Dr. Klaus H. Hoffmann am VIIth European Congress of Entomology teilgenommen und ein Symposium zum Thema "Chemical signals in insects-from molecular structure to physiological function" abgehalten. In der Teilnehmerversammlung dieses Kongresses wurde er zum Mitglied des Councils of European Congresses of Entomology nominiert. Diesem Councel gehören neben ihm Frau Professor Dorn (Zürich, CH) und die Professoren Jones (Cardiff, UK), Lieutier (Orleans, F)und Dabrowski (Warschau, Polen) an. Die Mitglieder des Councils haben ihn für die nächsten vier Jahre zum Chairman gewählt. Aufgabe dieses Councils ist es, die Verbindungen zu den nationalen Entomologischen Gesellschaften zu verbessern, die Entomologie in der Öffentlichkeit zu repäsentieren und die Organisation des nächsten Europäischen Entomologenkongresses zu leiten. Dieser wird im Herbst 2006 in Izmir (Türkei) stattfinden.
