First Executive MBA/MPA programme in Europe
Berlin, October 16, 2015 - The Hertie School of Governance and ESMT European School of Management and Technology are offering a joint Executive Master of Business Administration/Master of Public Administration (Executive MBA/MPA) degree from autumn 2016. The new Executive MBA/MPA is a two-year programme and will be taught together by the two Berlin universities. The programme, held in English, provides young leaders from private, public, and non-profit sectors the opportunity to develop their management skills across all of these areas. While leading universities in the US have been increasingly forging such alliances, this is the first joint executive degree programme of its kind in Europe.
“In an increasingly interdependent world, we need responsible managers who can lead effectively at the interface between politics, business, and society. For ESMT and the Hertie School it is a natural, forward-looking step to combine our respective expertise in the new degree programme and be the first to offer this dual degree in Europe,” said ESMT President Jörg Rocholl.
Helmut K. Anheier, President of the Hertie School, adds, “Be it the viable use of resources, the integration of migrants into the labour market, or financial stability - with many challenges we face, we would make faster progress with intersectoral thinking in everyday management. As an important center for politics and business in the heart of Europe, Berlin is an ideal location for an international Executive MBA/MPA such as the one the Hertie School and ESMT are offering.”
The Executive MBA/MPA combines two internationally renowned, successful programmes: the EMBA from ESMT and the EMPA from the Hertie School. The two-year programme is modular and can be completed while continuing to work. Most of the courses will be held in Berlin, and there will be workshops in Brussels and London, as well as international field trips to countries such as Argentina, Brazil, China, Hong Kong, or Malaysia. The tuition for the programme is 60,000 euros; partial scholarships will be available for exceptional applicants. Application requirements include a university degree, professional experience of at least five years, as well as very good English skills. The programme will start in October 2016, and online applications will be accepted from December 4, 2015. Detailed information is available at www.hertie-school.org/emba-empa.
