    - Company founder receives "Tagesspiegel Entrepreneur Scholarship" for Executive MBA at ESMT
    - Latest EMBA class at ESMT starts with 49 participants from 21 countries

ESMT European School of Management and Technology and Tagesspiegel have awarded the “Tagesspiegel Entrepreneur Scholarship” for the Executive MBA (EMBA) at ESMT to the young entrepreneur Matan Beery. The scholarship recipient is co-founder and CEO of akvola Technologies. The company is working to make water desalination affordable and sustainable in order to solve the challenge of global water scarcity. The partial scholarship is worth 40,000 EUR and covers 70 percent of the tuition fees of the program. With this scholarship, ESMT and Tagesspiegel want to give young business leaders the opportunity to develop their entrepreneurial skills.

The native Israeli Matan Beery is co-founder and CEO of akvola Technologies, headquartered in Berlin. The startup was founded in 2013 and plans and distributes compact systems for water treatment. With this approach akvola Technologies has received many awards, including the 2014 GreenTec special award for startups. “The Tagesspiegel Entrepreneur Scholarship gives me the opportunity to study for an EMBA at ESMT and strengthen my entrepreneurial skills,” says Matan Beery. “The special focus on the management of technology makes studying at ESMT for me and my company very attractive.”

Matan Beery completed his bachelor's degree in biochemical engineering at the Israeli Institute of Technology in Haifa. He has lived in Germany since 2006. After receiving a master’s degree from Technische Universität Berlin, he went on to get his doctorate in chemical engineering there in 2012.

The current EMBA class 2015-2017 has 49 participants from 21 countries. On average, the students are 36 years old and have 12 years of professional experience. The ESMT EMBA Program lasts 18 months and includes tracks in the areas of “Managing Business Integrity,” “International Management,” and “Technology and Innovation.” In the Financial Times’ ranking of the top 100 Executive MBA programs published today, the program ranked 30th globally.
