Prof. Dr. Jürgen Lorenz initiated and is Co-Organizer of The „First baltic sea symposium on simulation and virtual reality in health care education and patient safety“ is to be held in Riga February 4-6, 2016, initiated and co-organized by Prof. Jürgen Lorenz (HAW Hamburg). The aim of the symposium is to stimulate the mutual exchange of ideas and practices in the field of simulation-based learning and virtual reality in medicine and health care.
Riga Symposium on simulation and virtual reality in Health care 2016

Medical Education Technology Centre
Anninmuizas bulvaris 26a, Riga, Latvia
You expect a rich mixture of presentations, interactive hands-on workshops and podium discussions on many different topics. The scientific program includes use of simulation to optimize the inter-professional acute care of patients, faculty abilities to design and conduct goal-oriented simulation scenarios and debriefings, technological developments, simulation training in surgery, and how medical students can support the running of simulation centers on many levels.
The hands-on sessions address different modalities of simulation: phantom skill trainers, computerized manikins, PC-based virtual hospital, CAVE-based solutions of immersive virtual reality, patient role-playing, mental as well as dry- and wet-lab training for surgeons. Workshops on hospital healthcare provision will be held by Prof. Boris Tolg (HAW Hamburg) who developed this educational program as to simulate different health care situations.
