In 2015, roughly 443,000 pupils in Germany attained the qualification to enter a university or university of applied sciences. Based on provisional results, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that this is 1.9% more than in the previous year.
In 2015, the majority of persons qualified to enter higher education (76.8%) attained the general or subject-restricted higher education entrance qualification. 23.2% of the school-leavers obtained the qualification to enter a university of applied sciences.
52.7% of those qualified to enter higher education in 2015 were women, 47.3% were men.
