Die Klasse von Marina Abramovic zeigt Performances auf der 50. Biennale Venedig in Kooperation mit der IUAV Faculty of Design and Arts
Die Performances sind am 12. Juni 2003 von 15 bis 18 Uhr im Außenraum zwischen den Giardini und dem Arsenale zu sehen
Die Klasse von Marina Abramovic ist eine von insgesamt 12 künstlerischen Klassen, die weltweit als Vertreter einzelner Kunsthochschulen und Nationen zur 50. Kunst Biennale nach Venedig eingeladen wurde. Aus Deutschland ist neben der Hochschule für Bildende Künste Braunschweig noch die Städelschule Frankfurt/Main vertreten.
19 Studierende der Klasse Abramovic zeigen ihre Live-Performances unter dem Titel "VV2 Vivere Venezia 2 - Recycling the Future" am Presse-Eröffnungstag im Castello-Viertel in Venedig auf der Viale Trento und der Viale Garibaldi im Giardinetti della Biennale. Die Performances sind vom 12. Juni bis 12. Juli 2003 auch als Videoprogramm auf der Biennale zu sehen.
Die Performance-Klasse der Hochschule für Bildende Künste Braunschweig besteht aus 25 Studierenden, die neben Performance auch mit anderen Medien wie Installation, Video und Fotografie arbeiten. Marina Abramovic ist seit 1997 Professorin an der Kunsthochschule in Braunschweig. Neben der künstlerischen Entwicklung ist ihr dabei wichtig, dass die Studierenden lernen, sich aktiv in den Ausstellungsbetrieb außerhalb der Hochschule einzubringen. In den vergangenen zwei Jahren war die Klasse zu zahlreichen Aufführungen und Ausstellungen auf internationaler Ebene eingeladen wie in "Marking the Territory" im Irish Museum of Art in Dublin, "A little bit of History Repeated", Kunstwerke in Berlin und kürzlich im PAC (Padiglione d'Arte Contemporanea) in Mailand mit "as soon as possible". Am 27. Juni 2003 ist die Klasse im Museum Fridericianum in Kassel zu Gast.
