Anmeldung zum Early-Bird-Tarif bis 31. Juli 2016 möglich
HANNOVER, 1. Juli 2016 – Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer können sich ab sofort für die 20th International Conference on Theory and Practice of Digital Libraries (TPDL) anmelden. Das Forschungszentrum L3S und die Technische Informationsbibliothek (TIB) richten die englischsprachige Konferenz gemeinsam vom 5. bis 9. September 2016 in Hannover aus. Bis zum 31. Juli 2016 gilt der ermäßigte Early-Bird-Tarif.
Die TPDL 2016, für die der niedersächsische Ministerpräsident Stephan Weil die Schirmherrschaft übernommen hat, beschäftigt sich unter dem Titel „Overcoming the Limits of Digital Archives” mit aktuellen und zukünftigen Entwicklungen im Bereich Digitale Bibliothek und Archive sowie mit deren Anwendungen. Erwartet werden 300 Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer aus der ganzen Welt.
Keynotes der TPDL 2016:
„Pretty Things Done with (Electronic) Texts: Why We Need Full-Text Access“ (Jan Rybicki, Jagiellonian University, Krakow, Poland)
„Metaphors All the Way Down: The many practical uses of figurative language understanding“ (Tony Veale, University College Dublin, Ireland)
„Mozart's Laptop: Implications for Creativity in Multimedia Digital Libraries and Beyond“ (David Bainbridge, University of Waikato, and Director of the New Zealand Digital Library Research Project)
Das Programm besteht daneben aus zahlreichen Vorträgen, Tutorials, Diskussionen, Workshops und Posterpräsentationen zu Themen wie „Connecting digital libraries“, „Digital libraries in science“ und „Users, communities, personal data“.
