Towards the connected, automated and electrified automobiles: AMAA conference in Brussels

Automated vehicles are the prominent subject of current public debate: Fierce competition unfolds between companies and states regarding the market introduction of driving automation while first incidents document the inability of current technology to master complex situations. The International Forum on Advanced Microsystems for Automotive Applications (AMAA) has been exploring the technological foundations of connected, automated and electrified vehicles for many years.

The current edition, taking place on 22 and 23 September in Brussels, will again embrace key challenges regarding the development of the automobile of the future: How can we validate automated vehicles? How is secure communication between vehicles possible? What is an efficient electric powertrain? How can we facilitate cross-sectorial cooperation in order to roll-out driving automation? Which synergies are feasible between electrified and automated driving?

The 20. International Forum on Advanced Microsystems for Automotive Applications (AMAA 2016) has the motto “Smart Systems for the Automobile of the Future”, and will again tackle the imminent reshaping of the automobile and its ecosystem imposed by connectivity, automation and electrification. The conference programme comprises several keynote lectures on each of these subtopics, a round table discussion on the necessity of cross-sectorial cooperation and innovation for an efficient proliferation of automated and connected driving, as well as an invited session on urban light electric vehicles as platforms for novel mobility services for smart cities. The programme also features more than 20 scientific talks and posters on automated driving functions, automotive sensors, connectivity, navigation and electrified powertrains. “The interplay of electrification, connectivity and automation yields important synergies that will define the automobile of the future” says Dr. Gereon Meyer, chairman of AMAA 2016.

AMAA 2016 is jointly organized by VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH and the European Technology Platform on Smart Systems Integration (EPoSS). It will take place at the Representation of the State of Baden-Württemberg to the European Union in Brussels. As a programme managing body for public R&D funding as well as a consultant to the industry, VDI/VDE-IT has been concerned with automotive key technologies for many years. The company analyses and assesses international markets and technology developments and provides advice to policymakers and the economy, e.g. by compiling technology roadmaps.

Scientific proceedings of the AMAA conference will be published in the Springer book series “Lecture Notes in Mobility”: http://www.springer.com/de/book/9783319208541

    Help

Search / advanced search of the idw archives
    Combination of search terms

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.

    Brackets

You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).

    Phrases

Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.

    Selection criteria

You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).

If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
