Hannover Messe 2017: Concepts for the flexible chemical plant

Dr. Kathrin Rübberdt Öffentlichkeitsarbeit
DECHEMA Gesellschaft für Chemische Technik und Biotechnologie e.V.

A chemical plant consisting of individual components which can again and again be quickly and flexibly recombined – this is exactly what NAMUR, ZVEI and ProcessNet are going to present at the Modular Production Special Show during the Hannover Messe from 24 to 28 April 2017. Together with twelve companies they will also present a chemical plant housed in a container and automation software in Hall 11, Stand D44, under the motto ‘Process INDUSTRY 4.0: The Age of Modular Production’.

In the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, requirements for flexibility, more individualised products and shorter time-to market are becoming ever more stringent. Conventional plants cannot meet these challenges. This is why a growing number of suppliers, but also chemical and pharmaceutical companies have begun to develop modular concepts for new plants as well as plant extensions and up-grades. Individual modules incorporating different functions enable the plants to be quickly recombined again and again with a view to implementing a large number of different production processes. Robust and at the same time intelligent components such as pumps, chemical reactors, distillation and extraction modules and others, which are connected and controlled by modern measuring and automation devices, provide the basis for this approach.
The joint stand will be organised by ZVEI – Zentralverband Elektrotechnik- und Elektronikindustrie (Central Association of the Electrical and Electronic Industries) and supported by NAMUR – User Association of Automation Technology in Process Industries and ProcessNet, a joint initiative by DECHEMA and VDI in which researchers and developers co-operate. ABB, Emerson, Endress+Hauser, Festo, HIMA, Phoenix Contact, R. Stahl, Samson, Siemens, SpiraTec, Wago and Yokogawa will contribute exhibits and solutions.
As the Temporary ProcessNet Working Group stated in its White Paper on Modular Plants earlier this year, the standardised description of components is an essential prerequisite for implementing modular concepts. Since 2015 the ZVEI Working Group Modular Automation and the NAMUR Working Group Automation of Modular Plants have been jointly working on the specification of a non-proprietary description of modules.

    ZVEI
ZVEI - Zentralverband Elektrotechnik- und Elektronikindustrie e.V. (Central Association of the Electrical and Electronic Industries) represents the interests of 1,600 enterprises of the electrical industry and associated service providers in Germany. Every third innovation in the manufacturing sector in Germany originates in the electrical industry. This sector has 850,000 employees working in Germany and more than 700,000 employees abroad.

    NAMUR
NAMUR, the User Association of Automation Technology in Process Industries, is an international association and at present represents the interests of just under 150 member companies. All its activities focus on creating value-added through automation. NAMUR conducts a fair dialogue with manufacturers.
The Association represents several thousand automation experts of whom about 350 are actively involved in NAMUR’s almost 40 Working Groups.

    ProcessNet
ProcessNet is the German platform for process engineering, chemical engineering and industrial chemistry. It provides a meeting place for more than 5,000 members from science, industry and administration to exchange experience, discuss current issues and identify new scientific trends. ProcessNet is a joint initiative of DECHEMA and VDI-GVC.

    Help

Search / advanced search of the idw archives
    Combination of search terms

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.

    Brackets

You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).

    Phrases

Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.

    Selection criteria

You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).

If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
