How international educational research takes on societal challenges

Philip Stirm Referat Kommunikation
Deutsches Institut für Internationale Pädagogische Forschung

Experts from Australia, North America and Europe join a forum to discuss relevant developments of our time from the perspective of educational research – for example regarding the integration of immigrants or digitisation. The forum will be held at the annual meeting of the American Educational Research Association in the USA.

Many of the societal challenges in our time are closely linked to educational aspects. On April 28, the liaison office "International Cooperation in Education" (ice) will host a forum to discuss how international educational researchers contribute to finding appropriate answers. Entitled “Societal Challenges and Educational Research”, the forum invites researchers from Australia, Canada, Cyprus, England, Finland, Germany and the United States to discuss current scientific projects. This “Science Breakfast” will take place at the annual meeting of the American Educational Research Association (AERA) in San Antonio, Texas. The event aims at providing a platform for international exchange on research from different perspectives and stimulating international collaboration.

The forum will begin with a general panel discussion. Dr. Joann Halpern, Director of the German Center for Research and Innovation (GCR) in New York, will moderate a debate between Professor Dr. Rose M. Ylimaki, Professor for Educational Administration at the University of Arizona, and Professor Dr. Dr. h. c. Ingrid Gogolin, Professor for General, Intercultural and International Comparative Education at the University of Hamburg. Roundtables will then look at concrete societal challenges to education such as the integration of immigrants and refugees into education systems and digitisation in educational policy and practice from a research perspective.

Interested AERA visitors are warmly invited to take part in the event:

    Help

Search / advanced search of the idw archives
    Combination of search terms

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.

    Brackets

You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).

    Phrases

Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.

    Selection criteria

You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).
