In cooperation with the Institute of Gender in Medicine at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, the Berlin Institute of Health (BIH) acknowledges the scientific excellence of renowned scientists with the BIH Excellence Award for Sex and Gender Aspects in Health Research. It recognizes research excellence among scientists working in the field of basic and/or clinical biomedical research with a focus on sex and gender aspects. The laureate will receive 20.000€ for use on future research activities.
n addition to the award, BIH is seeking to promote networking and joint projects between the laureate and scientists in the translational research commons of Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in the Helmholtz Association (MDC). For this reason, BIH may nominate laureates as an Einstein BIH Visiting Fellow or a BIH Visiting Professor at Stiftung Charité if he or she meets all further requirements.
Sex and gender aspects must be a fundamental part of the applicant’s research approach or study design. Scientists must apply by October 15, 2017. The winner will be selected by an international panel of experts from the field of gender medicine.
