- Economic initiative founded by well-known German companies
- ESMT Berlin stands up for Europe’s future
ESMT Berlin has joined the economic initiative “We’re for Europe” to show solidarity for a unified and open Europe, thus supporting the European project. The initiative, launched on the anniversary of the founding of the Council of Europe (May 5, 2017), demonstrates a clear commitment to Europe. It emphasizes the advantages of European integration that have ensured freedom and peace for decades. The founding companies and partners of the We’re for Europe initiative include renowned companies such as BMW, Deutsche Börse, and thyssenkrupp. Innogy Chairman Peter Terium, who is also a member of the ESMT Board of Trustees, initiated We’re for Europe.
Together with decision makers from leading German companies, ESMT is advocating the diversity of Europe and taking a stand against protectionism. “International cooperation is not only essential for the future of the European economy. It is also a pillar of research and science and makes it possible to tap into the great knowledge potential that exists globally. For our business school, which already carries Europe in its name, it was a logical consequence to join the We’re for Europe initiative and work to strengthen the European ideal,” commented Martha Ihlbrock, head of corporate communications and marketing.
As a member of the Global Network for Advanced Management, ESMT also joined 28 other international business schools in February 2017 in the release of a statement advocating international exchange and protesting economic nationalism. With this joint declaration, the group emphasized that the challenges of the future could only be overcome with cooperation. With the support of global companies, the We’re for Europe initiative is pursuing a similar approach, and ESMT is underlining once again its commitment to the future of Europe. The initiative is active on social media under the hashtag #We4Europe.
