Hotel expert Jens V. Dünnbier expands the Management Board of Jacobs University. The 48-year-old, who recently spent six years as Director of the Romantik Hotel at the Wartburg in Eisenach, is responsible for campus activities, facility management, student accommodation, campus gastronomy, conferences and events as well as campus security at the international, English-medium university. The Karlsruhe native and father of two children took up his new position in September.
The hotelier has a wide range of experience. Prior to his position as Director in Eisenach, Dünnbier headed Gut Klostermühle, a nature resort and medical spa in Brandenburg and Alsterdomizil in Hamburg. Further milestones in his career include Hilton and Radisson Blu, Hotel Adlon Kempinski in Berlin and Hôtel Le Richemond on Lake Geneva.
“The aim of our university is to create an excellent learning and living environment for students and guests from all over the world, in which they feel welcome and can broaden their horizons at the same time. We are therefore very pleased to welcome Mr. Dünnbier, an internationally experienced hotel manager, to our team,” says Prof. Dr. Michael Hülsmann, President of Jacobs University Bremen. “I am confident that he will give new impetus to our growing university and campus life.” As a campus-based university, Jacobs University, with four colleges and students from more than 100 countries, houses a sports and convention center, sports facilities ranging from badminton to volleyball, and is a venue for numerous conferences and cultural events for both students and external guests.
“The diversity of topics and the internationality of Jacobs University are particularly appealing to me. I am looking forward to this new task and to helping shape the growth path of this university,” says Dünnbier.
The Management Board is responsible for the operating business of Jacobs University. In addition to Dünnbier, it consists of six other members: Andrea Herzig-Erler (Finance & Controlling), Bannour Hadroug (Student Marketing & Recruitment), Hagen Böttcher (Product Management, Key Account Management, Sales) and Pablo Michael Zerm (Academic Services). Also on the committee are Dr. Michael Dubbert as Managing Director, and Prof. Dr. Michael Hülsmann as President and Chairman of the Executive Board.
