Paläoanthropologie und -archäologie als weiterer Schwerpunkt am Max-Planck-Institut für evolutionäre Anthropologie in Leipzig etabliert
Eine neue Abteilung für Humanevolution hat am 1. Januar 2004 unter Leitung des renommierten französischen Anthropologen Prof. Jean-Jacques Hublin am Leipziger Max-Planck-Institut für evolutionäre Anthropologie ihre Arbeit aufgenommen. Hublin forschte zuvor am Laboratoire d'Anthropologie der Universität Bordeaux in Frankreich. Ziel des neuen Wissenschaftlerteams ist es, die biologische Beschaffenheit, das Verhalten und die Kulturen fossiler Hominiden zu erforschen. Durch das neue Arbeitsgebiet, in dem gerade in den letzten Jahren äußerst wichtige Fortschritte erzielt wurden, wird die interdisziplinäre Forschungslandschaft nicht nur des Max-Planck-Instituts für evolutionäre Anthropologie, sondern der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft insgesamt wesentlich bereichert.
