The International Association of Applied Psychology (IAAP) is the oldest and largest international organization of psychologists. Klaus Boehnke, Professor of Social Science Methodology at Jacobs University Bremen, has now been elected to its Board of Directors. Founded in 1920, the association is primarily committed to the international cooperation of psychologists.
Boehnke has been teaching and researching at Jacobs University since 2002. He also works at the Center for Sociocultural Research at the National Research University Higher School of Economics in Moscow. The former Vice Dean of the Bremen International School of Social Sciences (BIGSSS) has most recently been doing research primarily on social cohesion and attachment to the homeland. He has received numerous awards, most recently as "Outstanding Psychologist outside the U.S." for his services in the field of comparative cultural studies and political psychology by the International Psychology Division of the American Psychological Association.
Boehnke has been involved in international scientific organizations for a long time. He was Secretary-General and President of the International Association for Cross-Cultural Psychology (IACCP) and President of the Section for Political Psychology of IAAP. Among other things, the association organizes an international congress for applied psychology every four years. The next meeting is planned for 2022 in Beijing, China.
