Ein Professor der Fakultät Informatik und Informationstechnik, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Michael Scharf, leistet einen entscheidenden Beitrag zur Kommunikation zwischen Alltagsgeräten im Internet-of-Things (IoT).
Prof. Scharf leitet in einem weltweiten Gremium aus renommierten Netzwerkexperten seit über zehn Jahren die Arbeitsgruppe, die sich um die Standardisierung und Weiterentwicklung des Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) kümmert. Dieses Protokoll definiert eine Art Sprache, mit der im Internet einheitlich Daten zwischen Computern übertragen werden.
Mit Hilfe der Hochschule Esslingen konnte hierzu ein neues technisches Dokument erstellt und veröffentlicht werden. Dieses beschreibt, wie Alltagsgeräte mit nur wenig Rechenleistung an das Internet angebunden werden können und somit eine Kommunikation im Internet-of-Things (IoT) stattfinden kann.
Prof. Scharf lehrt an der Hochschule Esslingen genau in diesem Bereich. IT-Studierende lernen somit aus erster Hand die technischen Grundlagen des Internet.
