Julius Heinicke (UNESCO Chair for Cultural Policy at the University of Hildesheim) is curating an online lecture series together with Susanne Hesse-Badibanga (Head of the Education Department of documenta gGmbH) and Ernst Wagner (Exploring Visual Cultures project / Academy of Fine Arts Munich), exploring international approaches and concepts at the interface of culture, art, education and cultural policy.
In the lecture series, international experts present different conceptions and understandings of art, culture and education to reflect on them in the context of the upcoming documenta. The series was developed and prepared in a joint seminar with students from the University of Hildesheim and the Academy of Fine Arts Munich. The lectures will be moderated by the students.
The documenta is a global exhibition of contemporary art that takes place every five years in Kassel. In 2022, it will be curated by the Indonesian collective ruangrupa. Ruangrupa's way of working challenges traditional western concepts of art, curating, education and culture. Therefore, the lecture series aims to initiate a dialogue about these ideas with experts worldwide.
The lectures will take place online twice a month in English.
