PRESS INVITATION: Malteser International receives 100.000 Euro for a project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo

    Project on "Epidemic Preparedness and Response" is awarded one of the most important prizes in the field of development cooperation by the Else Kröner Fresenius Foundation

    Bad Homburg v.d. Höhe, October 21, 2021 – How can outbreaks of epidemics be detected at an early stage and prevented? The focus of this year’s presentation of the Else Kröner Fresenius Award for Development Cooperation in Medicine on the 28th of October lies on the topic “Epidemic Preparedness and Response” – the combating of numerous well-known infectious diseases that can cause epidemics – for example acute meningitis, the plague, polio, malaria or Ebola. At 100,000 euros, the award is one of the most important and best-endowed prizes in the development cooperation sector.

    Elhadj As Sy, co-chair of the World Bank/WHO Global Pandemic Preparedness Monitoring Board (GPMB) and chair at the World Health Summit in Berlin

    The award-winning project will be presented in the course of the World Health Summit at the workshop “Epidemic Preparedness Beyond Covid-19 - What can be learned from countries with limited resources?” on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2021 at 11 a.m. You are cordially invited!
