Under the title "Please Don't Tell. Storytelling Beyond Magic Formulas", renowned media professionals, filmmakers and researchers will present case studies and lectures on the topics of narration and reception on March 24 and 25. The second edition of the ZFICTION Feature Film Conference will take place this year at the Theatre of the Arts at Gessnerallee in Zurich. Tickets for purchase are available now online.
The Zurich Feature Film Conference ZFICTION.22 explores the question of how stories can be told in a dramaturgically fresh and convincing way. To what extent is the reception and engagement with stories changing? Can audience members be more challenged by genre mixes? What mechanisms are stimulated when we engage with narrative patterns? International experts will hold lectures on March 24 and 25, provide insights into their work, and shed light on narrative models and contemporary demands in feature films.
Planned are, among others, lectures and case studies by Linda Seger (e.g. "Making a Good Script Great"), Christian Schwochow ("Munich: The Edge of War," "Je Suis Karl"), Anna Sofie Hartmann ("Giraffe"), Fred Baillif ("La Mif"), Christine Lang (Leipzig University of Music and Theatre, "Kalte Probe"), Fritz Breithaupt (Indiana University, USA, "The Dark Side of Empathy"), Marja-Riitta Koivumäki (Aalto University, Finland), Kathrin Resetarits (Film Academy Vienna, "Licht"), Vinca Wiedemann (Story Supervisor "Melancholia," "Nymphomaniac"), Lars Wiebe (Netflix) and Jan Bennemann (Netflix).
The Zurich Feature Film Conference is an event of the Institute for the Performing Arts and Film of the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) in collaboration with the ZHdK Film Department. Tickets for the conference presented in German or English are available now at https://blog.zhdk.ch/zfiction/zfiction-info/.
