Michael Lindner Presse
Agentur für Innovation in der Cybersicherheit GmbH

Professor Jürgen Freudenberger recruited to head the department

At the end of July, the Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at Konstanz University of Applied Sciences (HTWG) signed his contract with the Agentur für Innovation in der Cybersicherheit (Cyberagentur). From 1 October 2022, he will take over as head of the Key Technology Department in Halle (Saale).

With the signing of Prof. Dr. Jürgen Freudenberger, it has been possible to bring a proven professor of communication systems in the field of electrical engineering and information technology to Halle. His special expertise includes the fields of signal processing, cryptography, and coding for secure and reliable data transmission and data storage. In these fields, Prof. Freudenberger has taught at the HTWG in Konstanz for the last few years and has been Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology since 2021. He is the author and co-author of various national and international publications.
"With Prof. Jürgen Freudenberger, we are gaining a proven expert," emphasises the Research Director of the Cyberagentur, Prof. Dr. Christian Hummert. "We are looking forward to him enriching our competences in the field of key technologies and thereby also advancing them."
His research area "Key Technologies" includes important research projects on the communication of the future, cryptology, cyber security through quantum technology as well as through artificial intelligence and autonomous intelligent systems.
The research contract Robust Systems and Machine Learning on Cybersecurity through AI and Cybersecurity for AI is already being advertised for October. "For me, it will be important to quickly get involved in the processes that have already started and to support the researchers in their work with new impulses from my work in Konstanz," explained the 51-year-old Freudenberger about his new start in Halle (Saale). "I know the responsibility I am being given. It's about developing safer future technologies that meet the growing demands for the internal and external security of the Federal Republic."
