The International Maglev Board (IMB), in cooperation with the Technical University of Deggendorf (THD), has completed an international transportation survey on the topic of Hyperloop. The survey analyzes the industry perspective on the suitability and benefits of these controversially discussed Hyperloop systems. 1036 transportation experts from 48 countries participated in the international online survey in 2021. The results of the scientific survey are now available as a publication.
In the future, hyperloop systems could transport not only cargo but also passengers at high speed from one city to the next thanks to their closed tube systems. How realistic are such concepts?
The results of the survey make it clear that the respondents consider the necessary infrastructure investments and operational expenditure to be very costly. At the same time, the expected economic benefits of hyperloop systems are viewed critically overall. A high consumption of resources is expected for construction and operation. Significant operational risks are also seen in the safety of passenger transportation. The difficulty of linking Hyperloop systems with existing transport infrastructure, especially in urban areas, is seen as an infrastructural barrier.
Despite these reservations, half of the respondents consider it sensible to continue to explore at least the theory of hyperloop systems in the future. A minority also considers hyperloop systems to be suitable in terms of transport and economics. However, scientists with many years of experience in the field of transport in particular express strong reservations about the operability and usefulness of hyperloop systems.

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.
You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).
Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.
You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).
If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
