As of September 1, 2022, Prof. Jörg Rocholl, PhD, will take up the Deutsche Bank Professorship in Sustainable Finance. The professorship focuses on the importance of the financial sector for a sustainable and green transformation and aims to provide evidence for the impact mechanisms of this change.
With the Deutsche Bank Professorship for Sustainable Finance, Prof. Rocholl will explore, among other issues, the incentives, models, and impact of sustainable financing. The aim of the professorship is to design the banking industry to be more sustainable in the long term.
The Deutsche Bank Professorship for Sustainable Finance is part of the FUTURE Institute for Sustainable Transformation at ESMT. The institute is specialized in developing and providing innovative sustainability solutions and supports companies in their transformation process. With the professorship, the business school and the bank want to make a joint contribution to scientific research and practical teaching of responsible corporate management.
“The global transformation to a sustainable and climate-neutral economy needs scientific foundation and clarity,” says Jörg Eigendorf, chief sustainability officer at Deutsche Bank. “We are therefore very pleased about Professor Rocholl’s appointment and hope that he and his professorship will provide additional impetus for the effectiveness of sustainable financial transactions.”
Prof. Rocholl has been the president of ESMT Berlin since 2011. He is also the vice-chair of the advisory board to the German Federal Ministry of Finance, a research fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), and a research member of the European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI).
Prof. Rocholl’s research interests are in the areas of corporate finance, corporate governance, financial intermediation, central banks, and financial regulation. His research has been accepted for publication in leading academic journals, such as the Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, and the Review of Financial Studies.
The ceremonial inauguration of the Deutsche Bank Professorship in Sustainable Finance will take place at ESMT on September 15, 2022.
