The World Health Summit 2022 begins on Sunday
The World Health Summit 2022, the world's leading meeting for global health opens this Sunday, October 16 in Berlin. The three-day conference, co-hosted with the World Health Organization (WHO), will focus on topics like climate change and health, pandemic preparedness, food security, digital transformation, sustainable health systems, and the role of the G7 and the G20 in global health. More than 300 speakers from all regions of the world are expected, among them over 20 government representatives and ministers, representatives from academia, industry, civil society, and international organizations, as well as more than 6,000 participants on-site and online. The entire program is available for free online.
In the run-up WHO Director-General and WHS 2022 co-host Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that the COVID-19 pandemic had shown that “when health is at risk, everything is at risk. Health is therefore not a cost to be contained, but an investment to be nurtured; not a luxury for the rich, but a fundamental human right.” World Health Summit President Prof. Dr. Axel Pries, Dean of Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin stresses: “The time to act for a healthier future is now. Health everywhere in the world is an indispensable basis for secure and commendable societies.”

The World Health Summit 2022 will be the first joint World Health Summit co-hosted with WHO and will be held under the patronage of German Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz, French President Emmanuel Macron, and WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. Aims of WHS 2022 are to strengthen exchange, stimulate innovative solutions to health challenges, foster global health as a key political issue and promote a global health conversation in the spirit of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
