Technische Universität Chemnitz

Yeji Lee from the MAIN research center at Chemnitz University of Technology received an award as a particularly outstanding young researcher in October 2022 as part of the conference of the Korean Scientists and Engineers Association

Nano-researcher Yeji Lee, a research assistant in Prof. Dr. Oliver G. Schmidt's research group at the Research Center for Materials, Architectures and Integration of Nanomembranes (MAIN), was honored with the Young Scientist Award at the Korean Scientists and Engineers Association conference on October 8, 2022 in Essen, Germany. Lee was recognized as a particularly outstanding young scientist for her recent research findings in microelectronics and smart dust applications. The jury particularly praised her presentation on “Towards powering the world of microelectronics with dust sized energy storage systems.” In its statement, the jury emphasized the significance of Lee's field of research and, in particular, the potential for future biomedical applications of tiny micro-energy storage systems, on which the young scientist from Chemnitz is working. Lee was one of five scientists honored at this conference with this award. A total of 40 young researchers submitted entries.

"The award greatly encourages me to continue my research in micro- and nanoelectronics. Personally, I'd like to thank my supervisors, Prof. Oliver G. Schmidt and Dr. Vineeth Kumar Bandari, as well as our entire research team. This award would not have been possible without them," Yeji Lee stated.
