INSPIRE-5Gplus: new Open-Source 5G pentesting tool

Pooja Mohnani Marketing and PR

Replaying 5G network traffic and modifying it using rules to manipulate 5G protocol packets and field values can now be done by 5Greplay tool that has been derived from the MMT (Montimage Monitoring Tool) framework for the H2020 project INSPIRE-5Gplus (https://www.inspire-5gplus.eu/).

The 5Greplay tool has been derived from the MMT (Montimage Monitoring Tool) framework for the H2020 project INSPIRE-5Gplus (https://www.inspire-5gplus.eu/). It allows replaying 5G network traffic and modifying it using rules to manipulate 5G protocol packets and field values.

The tool is now being proposed through an Open-Source project in GitHub:
    https://github.com/montimage/5greplay

The 5Greplay tool includes the following features:
    ● Processing online or offline network packets/sessions.
    ● Systematically manipulating and injecting malformed packets that are accepted by 5G network target components to evaluate their robustness.
    ● Simulate DoS attacks by amplifying network traffic.
    ● Performing 5G security test cases.
    ● Stress and fuzz testing of a 5G target component.

Montimage, who has developed this tool from scratch, offers commercial services that include training, support, specification of rules for generating modified traffic, implementation of new generation algorithms, and more.

    About the INSPIRE-5Gplus project

The Horizon 2020 project INSPIRE-5Gplus will advance security of 5G and Beyond networks. Grounded in an integrated network management system and relevant frameworks, INSPIRE-5Gplus is entirely devoted to improve security at various dimensions, i.e., overall vision, use cases, architecture, integration to network management, assets, and models. INSPIRE-5Gplus will address key security challenges through vertical applications ranging from autonomous and connected cars to Critical Industry 4.0. The project started on 1st November 2020 and will end on 31st October 2022. It is performed by a consortium of 14 European partners from industry and academia.

    Help

Search / advanced search of the idw archives
    Combination of search terms

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.

    Brackets

You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).

    Phrases

Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.

    Selection criteria

You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).

If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
