On Tuesday, 1 November 2022, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar University Assembly elected Peter Benz as President.
Peter Benz studied Architecture at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and has worked there as an artistic staff member. He has been living in Hong Kong since 2006, where he is an associate professor at the Academy of Visual Arts of Hong Kong Baptist University. He is expected to assume his position as President of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar in the first quarter of 2023, following his appointment by Wolfgang Tiefensee, Thuringian Minister für Wirtschaft, Wissenschaft und Digitale Gesellschaft.

His academic roots are based in Weimar through his time studying and teaching here, and he has a wealth of experience in higher education, especially in an international context.
