Hannover Messe 2023: IfBB presents bioplastics for high-temperature applications in automobiles

Dr. Lisa Mundzeck IfBB - Institut für Biokunststoffe und Bioverbundwerkstoffe
Hochschule Hannover

(Hanover, 13.04.2023) The IfBB - Institute for Bioplastics and Biocomposites cordially invites you to meet at A33 "Schaufenster Bioökonomie“ in Hall 2. The institute will demonstrate the extent to which bioplastics can also be successfully used in high-temperature applications in the automotive sector.

How can bioplastics also be used in demanding technical applications where they are exposed to high temperatures, for example in the automotive sector?
The research project "HoT-BRo2- Bioplastics for high-temperature applications", funded by the BMEL under the project sponsorship of the Fachagentur Nachwachsende Rohstoffe e. V. (FNR), is investigating precisely this. Building on a feasibility study in which the substitution of petro-based plastics by bio-based plastics in the engine compartment of combustion engines was investigated, the HoT-BRo2 project will undertake targeted material developments and modifications in order to make thermoplastic bioplastics and bio-composites applicable across all sectors in the high-temperature range.
The researchers will show various reference components with different requirements, such as a charge air pipe, the cover of an oil filter module and a cable gland made of bio-based plastics, which have been specifically developed for high temperature ranges. In the process, the components must not only meet the material requirements, but must also be able to be produced at a reasonable price and pass the respective sustainability assessments.

Project partners are: ContiTech MGW GmbH, Mann+Hummel GmbH, RF Plast GmbH, PFLITSCH GmbH & Co. KG, ARKEMA France, Radici Chimica SpA, BGS Beta-Gamma-Service GmbH & Co. KG, Schwarzwälder Textil-Werke Heinrich Kautzmann GmbH, OKA-TEC GmbH, HBL-Plast GmbH.

About the IfBB - Institute for Bioplastics and Biocomposites at Hochschule Hannover - University of Applied Sciences and Arts:

The IfBB - Institute for Bioplastics and Biocomposites is part of the Faculty II - Mechanical Engineering and Bioprocess Engineering of the Hochschule Hannover - University of Applied Sciences and Arts at Hannover-Ahlem. In addition to the development of new bio-based materials, their testing and processing, the main focus of the research work is on the topics of sustainability assessment, recycling of plastics and the circular economy.

    Help

Search / advanced search of the idw archives
    Combination of search terms

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.

    Brackets

You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).

    Phrases

Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.

    Selection criteria

You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).

If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
