New IPF Fellow Laura Bray

Kerstin Wustrack Öffentlichkeitsarbeit
Leibniz-Institut für Polymerforschung Dresden e. V.

On May 1, 2023, Professor Laura J. Bray was appointed as IPF Fellow.

Laura Bray is Associate Professor and Australian Research Council (ARC) Future Fellow currently based at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Brisbane, Australia.

She worked with Carsten Werner at the IPF from 2013-2016, who hosted her within her Prime Minister’s Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Postdoctoral Fellowship.
Laura Bray and Carsten Werner continuously collaborated after her research stay in Dresden, which resulted in over 17 co-authored publications and an ongoing joint engagement as co-investigators within the ARC Training Centre for Cell and Tissue Engineering Technologies established between QUT and Monash University in Australia.
Laura Bray focuses on tissue microenvironments, which are influenced by many mechanical, chemical and cellular processes which cannot be depicted in 2D cell culture. The Bray Lab is developing highly sophisticated 3D models of various tissue microenvironments in order to more accurately mimic cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions which occur during normal and malignant development. A major focus of the lab is endothelial cell heterogeneity and tumour angiogenesis.
Through these culture models, Laura Bray and her team hope to gain a deeper understanding of the role of the microenvironment in directing cell fate and during disease development. These models have the potential to be utilised as research platforms for fundamental biological studies, as a drug testing platform for pre-clinical trials, and can be used to study novel therapeutic targets for cancer patients.

The IPF Fellowship aims to make the IPF and its research topics more visible within and outside the scientific community in Europe and beyond through the exchange and networking with fellows.
Only leading scientists at universities or renowned research institutes in Germany and abroad with expertise in the main research areas or expertise complementary to the research activities of the institute can be appointed.

We are happy to have Professor Laura Bray on board and are very much looking forward to deepen the already existing successful collaboration between IPF and QUT.

    Help

Search / advanced search of the idw archives
    Combination of search terms

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.

    Brackets

You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).

    Phrases

Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.

    Selection criteria

You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).

If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
