This press release gives an overview on the Project Paroma-Med its goal and progress made so far.
PAROMA-MED develops, validates and evaluates a platform – based hybrid-cloud delivery framework for privacy- and security- assured services and applications in federative cross-border environments.
To this purpose, the project will develop new architectures, technologies, tools and services.
PAROMA-MED project approached privacy protection of personal data, including also health related records, by engaging a holistic approach with respect to the potential stakeholders that can be eventually involved in related processes. Following the pace paved by Data Space initiatives across Europe, the project aspires to offer artifacts that will ensure the maximum exploitation of data value, within these rich and continuously evolving ecosystems, according to concrete and pervasive sovereignty principles which are elevating the role of and empowering the data owner/subject.
For this purpose, the project has:
• Provided a thorough set of functional and not functional requirements classified across several dimensions
• Elaborated an extended Use Case for demonstrating the full cycle of data from creation to usage and involvement in added value applications (Federated ML)
• Identified the role of FHIR standard and positioned it at the epicenter of interworking and interoperability
• Started implementation regarding the data workloads and flows involving adaptation of DICOM content, utilization of HAPI FHIR and MIN.IO open-source software
• Started experimentation and investigation on WEB3 technologies (DLT, Wallets)
• Patented (by Ericsson) a Path Computation Engine that assess vulnerabilities and modifies the networking path for protected services and connections taking into account administrative policies and NIST vulnerability scores
• Identified hardware (TPM, TEE) as an important component in establishing chain of trust
• Started working with Data Space connectors to be utilized for controlled (policy and contract enforcement) and traceable use of data
• Elaborated on the utilization of Watermarking and Secure Watermarking techniques for all data assets and started implementing the relevant artifacts
• Classified Federated ML frameworks and carried out interesting experiments
• Drafted and continuously evolves Privacy Awareness UI/UX solutions
• Designed the main Identity Management Scheme
The Consortium PAROMA-MED project is powered by 9 partners with complementary expertise. The PAROMA-MED consortium is co-ordinated by EURESCOM and the project is led by QUALTEK. The consortium has a good balance of industry and academicia like ERICSSON, AGENTSCAPE, UBITECH, 6GHI, IMT ATLANTIQUE and UNIV of RENNES.
The project has entered its second year with an extensive agenda of actions and intermediate milestones and aspires to be able to provide concrete demonstrations by the end of the second year.
