ESMT Berlin President Jörg Rocholl has been appointed as a new member of acatech – National Academy of Science and Engineering. The election underscores his professional and scientific expertise, and highlights ESMT's position as an international business school at the forefront of innovation and technological progress.

In collaboration with 38 other newly elected scientists, Jörg Rocholl, Deutsche Bank professor in sustainable finance and chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board at the Federal Ministry of Finance, will contribute his extensive scientific expertise to acatech on a voluntary basis. As a member of the academy, which has over 600 members, Mr. Rocholl will join other experts from science and industry. His role will involve participating in discussions on project topics and engaging in thematic networks focused on specialist topics in technical sciences, as well as overarching issues with a technology policy background.

“I am delighted to have been appointed as a new member of the National Academy of Science and Engineering. acatech is an important voice of the technological sciences, with national and international appeal. As an organization, it actively promotes dialogue between science, politics, business, and society. The scientific achievements and reputation of its members form the basis for the academy's comprehensive advisory services. I therefore consider it an honor and a distinction to now be part of this academy,” says Rocholl.

acatech is a non-profit organization under the patronage of Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. Its mission is to advise politics and society on technology-related matters, thereby fostering a dialogue between science, business, and politics. Its membership comprises distinguished individuals at the interface between science, business, and politics. The academy promotes interdisciplinary exchange and cooperation between science and industry and provides options and recommendations for action for politics and society.

The official presentation of the membership certificate is expected to take place at the next acatech General Assembly on October 15, 2024, in Berlin.
