Leuphana: globally unique study program on sustainable chemistry

Henning Zuehlsdorff Pressestelle
Leuphana Universität Lüneburg

In view of the current global challenges, the chemical industry needs innovative strategies and solutions in order to become more sustainable. Leuphana Professional School is responding to the increasing demand for expertise in sustainable chemistry with two part-time Master's degree programs: M. Sc. Sustainable Chemistry and MBA Sustainable Chemistry Management. Both study programs will start again in March 2024.

Environmentally friendly production, safe products and a sustainable future are key elements of the programs. They aim to train managers who can make the chemical industry a driving force for change towards sustainable chemistry. This involves comprehensive, forward-looking approaches that both meet the requirements of a circular economy and contribute to the sustainability goals of the United Nations.

The M. Sc. Sustainable Chemistry provides a comprehensive understanding of green and sustainable chemistry. Students deal with the molecular basis for sustainability, toxicology, environmental behavior, material design and renewable resources, among other things. The degree opens up career prospects in science, industry, authorities, associations or NGOs.

The MBA Sustainable Chemistry Management is aimed not only at chemists, but also at non-chemists with an interest in sustainable chemistry. The program combines sustainable chemistry with practice-oriented sustainability management to train managers at all levels of decision-making for a sustainable chemical industry.

Both degree programs can be studied almost entirely online. They are internationally oriented and are offered in English. Internationally renowned scientists and experts such as Leuphana Professor Klaus Kümmerer supervise the students. Both courses are recognized as SDG Good Practices examples by the United Nations.

Applications are still possible until January 31. Further information and application details can be found at http://www.leuphana.de/sustainable-chemistry and http://www.leuphana.de/mba-sustainable-chemistry
