Die Akademie der Wissenschaften und der Literatur hat auf ihrer letzten Sitzung die Medienwissenschaftlerin Carolin Gerlitz zum ordentlichen Mitglied gewählt.
Prof. Dr. Carolin Gerlitz, Jahrgang 1982, ist Professorin (W3) für Digital Media and Methods an der Universität Siegen. Nach dem Studium der Gesellschafts- und Wissenschaftskommunikation in Berlin (Universität der Künste) und Gender, Media and Culture an der Goldsmiths, University of London, wo sie im Fach Soziologie promoviert wurde, folgten Stationen in London und an der Universität Amsterdam, bevor sie 2016 die Professur in Siegen übernahm. Ihre Schwerpunkte sind digitale Medientechnologien und Methoden sowie Software- und Platform-Studies. Sie ist Sprecherin des Sonderforschungsbereichs »Medien der Kooperation«, Teilprojektleiterin des SFB »Transformationen des Populären« und Mitgründerin des »Center for Digital Methodologies in Media, Language and Technology Research«. Sie ist langjähriges Mitglied der Digital Methods Initiative sowie des Public Data Labs.
Carolin Gerlitz gehört der Geistes- und sozialwissenschaftlichen Klasse an.
