Digital City Science celebrates launch of SURE Solutions science magazine

Christian Schmidt Kommunikation
HafenCity Universität Hamburg

The chair of "Digital City Science" at HafenCity University celebrates the first issue of the new science magazine "SURE Solutions - Transdisciplinary Challenges in the Sustainable Development of Urban Regions". The ceremonial launch of the first issue will take place on January 28, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the library of HCU Hamburg.

Vice President of Research and Internationalisation of HafenCity University Hamburg, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Annette Bögle, will welcome the guests, following which the editors of the magazine, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jörg R. Noennig (HCU Hamburg), Dr.-Ing. Katharina M. Borgmann (HCU Hamburg) and Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Frank Schwartze (Lübeck University of Applied Sciences), will provide insights into the contents of the first issue and the future plans for the publication series during the event. The focus of the first issue is on Southeast Asia. It features contributions from more than 50 authors from Europe and Asia, some of whom will present their work at the event. The aim of the launch event is to exchange ideas with current and future authors and the audience from the academic research community. The magazine is published digitally and in print format and is now available in the university library and at the Chair of Digital City Science.

The first volume of the SURE Solutions publication series focuses on the topic of “Transdisciplinary challenges in the sustainable development of urban regions”. The articles present the basics and project concepts of how multinational partnerships can be successfully established, which specific challenges need to be addressed and which results and impacts are expected. Accompanying editorials derive overarching themes from the articles and outline synergy and synthesis activities for the BMBF's SURE funding program.

The volume comprises four main subject areas for the contributions:
    • partnerships, networks and communities
    • theoretical approaches and challenges
    • tools and technologies
    • Policy implementation strategies and approaches
