As Chief Executive Officer of the IAMHH e.V., entrepreneur and AM expert Dr. Maximilian Heres is committed to the development of new technologies and the transfer of additive manufacturing into industrial applications in the Hamburg metropolitan region.

Hamburg-Bergedorf, April 16, 2025 - The Industrialized Additive Manufacturing Hub Hamburg (IAMHH e.V.), registered in November 2024, aims to advance the industrial adoption of additive manufacturing (AM) and drive innovation across key technological and economic sectors. To accelerate the association's activities, the board of IAMHH e.V. has now appointed Dr. Maximilian Heres as CEO.

Dr. Heres has over seven years of work experience as an engineer, entrepreneur, and scientist in the development, optimization, and implementation of advanced manufacturing processes. The focus has been on integrating pioneering manufacturing technologies such as 3D printing, CNC machining, and automation to maximize efficiency and profitability in production processes.

Dr. Heres combines the perspectives of science and industry

In his academic career, Maximilian Heres earned a doctorate in "Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering" at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, USA, after studying physics. He subsequently contributed his expertise to Local Motors, Inc., where he led the development of an autonomous, 3D-printed shuttle bus from conception through prototyping to production.

As CEO of Loci Robotics, Inc. and his company Heres 3D, LLC, he developed and produced 3D printing robotic systems for industrial applications and advised companies on implementing additive manufacturing processes. He collaborated with various industries on numerous projects in large-scale 3D printing — ranging from architecture to design and furniture to defense and 3D-printed horse trailers.

Contact person for the local and national AM community

With his expertise in the strategic development of additive technologies, Dr. Heres drives the IAMHH e.V. association's goal of establishing additive manufacturing as a key technology for the future of production. As CEO, Dr. Heres represents IAMHH e.V. to local and national organizations in science and industry. This is a role that Dr. Heres identifies with in many ways: "Leading the IAMHH e.V. combines my passion for the efficient and effective integration of industrial 3D printing into series production processes with my experience in entrepreneurship and additive manufacturing. I look forward to engaging with the local AM community and initiating joint collaborative projects."

Prof. Dr. Ingomar Kelbassa, Chairman of IAMHH e.V., Director of the Fraunhofer Research Institution for Additive Manufacturing Technologies IAPT and the Institute for Industrialization of Smart Materials (ISM) at Hamburg University of Technology TUHH, comments: "We are delighted to have gained Dr. Heres as a CEO who brings together various stakeholders and ideas into visionary collaborative projects with competence and enthusiasm. With Dr. Heres in management, IAMHH e.V. is gaining further momentum."

Personal introduction at AM conference in May

Dr. Maximilian Heres is returning to Germany after 20 years in the USA. He is looking forward to personally introducing himself to the members of IAMHH e.V. and interested parties from science, industry, and politics at the association's networking meeting on May 6 and 7, 2025, in Hamburg.
