Fachhochschule Dresden welcomes delegation from Kaohsiung City Government (Taiwan)

    On September 10, 2025, Dresden University of Applied Sciences (FHD) welcomed a delegation from the Kaohsiung City Government led by Deputy Mayor Lo, Ta-Sheng. The visit strengthens cooperation in education, research, and innovation. The focus was on the master's program Leadership, Entrepreneurship & Innovation, projects on entrepreneurship, digitalization, and sustainability, and the Taiwan Summer School. The program included a welcome, introductions, a VR escape room, discussions, and lunch with representatives of the state capital.

    Dresden, 10 September 2025 – Fachhochschule Dresden (FHD) today welcomed a high-ranking delegation from the Kaohsiung City Government, led by Deputy Mayor Lo, Ta-Sheng. The visit formed part of the official programme of the City of Dresden and reflects the growing ties between Saxony and Taiwan in education, research, and economic innovation.

    Goals of the visit

    The delegation’s stop at FHD aimed to:
    • strengthen academic cooperation between Taiwanese and German higher education institutions,
    • present FHD’s new Master’s Programme in Leadership, Entrepreneurship & Innovation (MLEI),
    • explore opportunities for collaborative projects in entrepreneurship, digital transformation, and sustainability,
    • continue exchange activities such as the Taiwan Summer School, which links FHD students with peers from National Taichung University of Science and Technology.

    Programme at FHD

    The delegation was welcomed by Tom Kahle (CEO FHD-AFBB), Prof. Dr. Marius Brade (Rector of FHD), and Prof. Dr. Antonio Roldán-Ponce (Dean, Faculty of Business Administration). The programme included:
    • an introduction to the FHD–AFBB Group and its practice-oriented approach,
    • an overview of FHD’s profile and cooperation strategy,
    • a presentation of the Master’s Programme Leadership, Entrepreneurship & Innovation (MLEI),
    • insights into the ongoing Taiwan Summer School,
    • a demonstration of FHD’s innovation and research transfer projects, including its VR Escape Room Lab.

    The visit concluded with a roundtable discussion and lunch at the FHD Mensa, attended also by representatives of the City of Dresden and Prof. Shu-Chen Li (Saxon-Taiwanese Society Dresden, TU Dresden).

    Context

    Kaohsiung is Taiwan’s second-largest city and a global hub for high-tech industries, including semiconductors. The visit highlights Dresden’s growing role as a European centre for microelectronics and innovation. For FHD, strengthening ties with Taiwan aligns with its strategy of internationalisation and fostering research transfer between academia, industry, and society.
