Wasserstoff Campus Salzgitter e.V. Represented at the Hannover Messe 2026

Dr. Simone Kondruweit Presse- und Öffentlichkeitsarbeit
Fraunhofer-Institut für Schicht- und Oberflächentechnik IST

The industrial transformation toward climate-friendly processes is one of the central challenges of our time. Hydrogen plays a key role in this transition – especially in energy-intensive industries where conventional energy sources have so far been difficult to replace. At the Salzgitter site, concrete solutions are being developed, tested, and transferred into practice for this purpose. The Wasserstoff Campus Salzgitter brings together expertise from research, industry, and education to advance innovative technologies along the entire hydrogen value chain.

How this collaboration works in practice will be demonstrated by the Wasserstoff Campus Salzgitter e.V. at the Hannover Messe from April 20 to 24, 2026. In Hall 12, Booth E83, the campus will be represented at the stand of the Salzgitter AG.

The focus of the presentation will be on providing clear insights into current research and development activities. A presentation of the campus infrastructure and as well as multimedia project showcases will illustrate how new technologies are being developed and industrial applications prepared at the Salzgitter site. Thematic topics range from automated manufacturing and recycling approaches for fuel cell and electrolysis stacks, through efficiency improvements in modern electrolysis processes, to the integration of hydrogen solutions into production processes and mobility concepts.

The trade fair will also provide an opportunity to exchange ideas with national and international partners from industry, science, and politics. The aim is to deepen existing collaborations, initiate new partnerships, and jointly provide momentum for a sustainable hydrogen economy.

About the Wasserstoff Campus Salzgitter e.V.

The Wasserstoff Campus Salzgitter e.V. is a non-profit organization of eighteen stakeholders from business, science, and public institutions. The aim of this alliance is to holistically develop and implement hydrogen technologies – from production through storage and distribution to application in industry and mobility. Both economic and ecological aspects are considered equally. As a real-world laboratory, research platform, and venue for education and training, the Campus pools expertise at the Salzgitter site and promotes the transfer of knowledge into practical applications.

We look forward to seeing you in Hall 12, Booth E83.
