How can artificial intelligence support surgical decision-making in oncology? Which molecular mechanisms help us better understand and diagnostically classify rare diseases? And what does it mean for treatment when the nervous system “learns” pain? These questions will be at the heart of the 6th Jung Symposium, “Excellence in Human Medicine 2026,” hosted by the Jung Foundation for Science and Research and taking place on May 20, 2026, in Hamburg and via livestream. The symposium will be conducted in English, and participation is free of charge.
Under the motto “Excellence in Human Medicine 2026,” the Jung Foundation invites participants to experience groundbreaking research with direct benefits for patients on May 20, 2026, via livestream.
The event focuses on current research with direct clinical relevance: Dr Fiona Kolbinger, a rising early-career scientist, will discuss how artificial intelligence can contribute to safer surgical planning. Professor Taroh Kinoshita, a leading authority in GPI biochemistry, will present on GPI anchoring and its role in rare diseases. Professor Rohini Kuner, one of the foremost researchers in the field of pain research, will outline new therapeutic approaches for chronic pain. Each lecture will be followed by a Q&A session.
The symposium will take place on May 20, 2026, starting at 4:00 p.m. as a hybrid event – via livestream worldwide and on site at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE), Ian K. Karan Lecture Hall.
