Professor Dr. Wilfried Lex, Institut für Informatik der TU Clausthal, wurde vom Präsidenten , Professor Dr. Edmund Brandt, am 29. September in den Ruhestand verabschiedet.
Professor Lex trug wesentlich mit dazu bei, die Clausthaler Informatik aufzubauen und hatte für die Fragen und Nöte der Studierenden - trotz großer Arbeitslast - stets ein offenes Ohr. Mit Beharrlichkeit und Diplomatie vertrat Professor Lex als hochschulinterner Anwalt die Interessen der Clausthaler Informatik in Gremien und gegenüber der Hochschulleitung; so wechselten an diesem Tag danksagende Reden von Seiten des Präsidiums, des Instituts und der Fakultät einander ab. Der Geehrte nahm es mit Bescheidenheit.
Professor Lex wurde 1939 in Berlin geboren, promovierte 1973 in Gießen und kam 1975 als Oberassistent an das Institut für Mathematik der TU Clausthal; nach erfolgter Habilitation wurde Wilfried Lex zunächst Privatdozent (1980) und 1985 Professor für Mathematik. 1997 wurde der vollzogene Wechsel in die Informatik auch durch die offizielle Neudefinition seines Lehr- und Forschungsgebietes - Mathematische Grundlagen der Informatik - bestätigt.
