Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena lädt am Mittwoch (26.01.), 15.30 Uhr zum Symposium
Jena (24.01.05) Um den Forschritt im Mikroskopbau zu erreichen, musste Ernst Abbe im 19. Jahrhundert optische Erkenntnisse mit der Weiterentwicklung der Glasproduktion vereinen. Dem genialen Wissenschaftler und Unternehmer, dessen Todestag sich 2005 zum 100. Mal jährte, gelang dies in besonderer Weise, wovon Wissenschaft und Wirtschaft bis heute profitieren.
Abbes Entdeckungen und ihrer Entwicklung bis in die Gegenwart widmet sich das Symposium "Licht & Glas" der Friedrich-Schiller-Universität. Die öffentliche wissenschaftliche Veranstaltung findet am Mittwoch (26. Januar) ab 15.30 Uhr im Großen Hörsaal der Physik (Max-Wien-Platz 1) statt. Nach einer Einführung durch den Dekan der Physikalisch-Astronomischen Fakultät Prof. Dr. Paul Seidel spricht Prof. Dr. Roland Sauerbrey zum Thema "Ernst Abbe und sein Einfluss auf die heutige Optik" und Prof. Dr. Dr. Christian Rüssel (ca. 16.20 Uhr) über "Optisches Glas von Ernst Abbe bis heute".
Im Anschluss bietet die Universität gemeinsam mit der Ernst-Abbe-Stiftung das 36. Ernst-Abbe-Kolloquium an. Um 17.30 Uhr hält Prof. Dr. Günther Hasinger vom Max-Planck-Institut für extraterrestrische Physik in Garching im Zeiss-Planetarium (Am Planetarium 5) einen Vortrag über "Vom Schicksal des Universums - Neue Erkenntnisse über Schwarze Löcher".
Der Eintritt ist zu beiden Veranstaltungen frei.
