Frankfurter Max-Planck-Wissenschaftler enthüllen molekulare Architektur und Wirkungsweise einer für Pilze und Hefen typischen Protonenpumpe
Proteine, die Ionen und andere Stoffe durch die Außenmembran der Zelle transportieren, gehören zur Grundausstattung aller Organismen. Durch Vergleich mit der Struktur einer Kalzium-Pumpe haben Wissenschaftler am Max-Planck-Institut für Biophysik in Frankfurt die Struktur und den Regulationsmechanismus der Protonenpumpe in einer Hefe aufgeklärt Science Express, 8. August 2002. Der Regulationsmechanismus bildet einen potentiellen Angriffspunkt für neue Fungizide.
