Company visits and lectures in five countries

Three European universities are offering a business tour for US-students - European Business Summer Program

GERMANY. (hpn) Europe has a lot to offer. The Business Europe Study Tour (BEST), a new international summer school program, gives a closer look at leading European companies and their business environment. In cooperation with Cal State Fullerton, three European universities under the leadership of the German Nuertingen University are teaming up to offer this three-week tour through five European countries in June 2005. The program combines established academic concepts with first-hand insight into the European economy, business, and management. Another interesting feature: students can earn three academic credits at CSUF.

The study tour program is academically sound but also has a touch of class. Participants will visit companies like Porsche, Louis Vuitton, Lloyds of London and Mercedes, experience London, Paris, Brussels, Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich and the breath-taking scenery of the Matterhorn. The group will meet officials of the Bank of England, the Swiss National Bank, the European Union, the World Trade Organization and profit from compact lectures by selected professors focusing on the issues at hand. It's this close link between company and institutional visits and direct academic input that constitutes BEST's unique character. The tour will bring together first-hand experience of challenges faced by European businesses with economic theories and management solutions.

But the Business Europe Study Tour will also explore one of the continents main characteristics: its rich cultural diversity. Students will meet managers, executives and heads of government from different cultural backgrounds and engage in intercultural communication. Of course, participants will encounter diversity not only in the boardroom. It's the people from different nations, the variety of food, the vibrant music scenes and much more that makes for a truly European experience.

The diverse perspective is already guaranteed by the three organizers: the ISCID Université du Littoral in France, the University of Applied Sciences Solothurn, Switzerland and Nürtingen University, Germany, a long-time exchange partner of CAL State Fullerton. All three enjoy excellent reputations in the field of international business and management. In cooperation with STA Travel, the worldwide No. 1 student-travel agency, they are committed to offering the participants an academically challenging and culturally enriching summer school program. Students that are interested in BEST can either visit the official homepage under www.best.fhso.ch or write an E-mail to best@fh-nuertingen.de
