Anhand ausgewählter Beispiele stellt sie die Tradierung von Wissen, Wissenschaft und Wissenskultur bis in unsere Zeit dar. Veranstalterin ist der Sonderforschungsbereich 447 "Kulturen des Performativen" der Freien Universität Berlin, der auf der Konferenz seine mehr als dreijährige Forschungsarbeit über die Auswirkungen ästhetischer, insbesondere theatraler, Praktiken präsentiert.
Das Spektrum ist interdisziplinär angelegt und umfasst u.a. Themenbereiche wie "Wissenschaftliche und literarische Experimente in der englischen Restaurationszeit" (Richard Nate), das "Drama des 17. Jahrhunderts als Form des (Evidenz)beweises" (Volkhard Wels) oder "Newtons Gravitationsgesetz und Galileis Äquivalenzprinzip an der Schwelle des 21. Jahrhunderts" (Rainer Gruber) sowie "Otto von Guericke - Der spektakuläre Nachweis der Größe des Luftdrucks" (Ditmar Schneider).
