Die Vortragsreihe will die Bedeutung von Judentum und Juden für die europäische Kulturgeschichte vergegenwärtigen. Dabei geht es nicht zuletzt darum aufzuweisen, dass dieser spezifische Beitrag nicht etwas Hinzukommendes, sondern Konstitutivum für das ist, was man mit westlicher Kultur bezeichnet.
Exemplarisch lässt sich zeigen, dass Ausgrenzung und Behauptung einer kulturellen Fremdheit sich nicht nur gegen die Minderheit, sondern gegen die Kultur selbst richteten.
