The center of the Milky Way presents itself as a unique laboratory for examining the processes in low-luminosity galactic nuclei. Observations can probe the properties and dynamics of the stars and ISM in the Galactic Center from scales of hundreds of parsecs down to a few milliparsecs. Radio and X-ray observations as well as observations of stellar dynamics in the immediate vicinity of Sagittarius A* have assembled ironclad evidence for its massive black hole nature and will allow us - in the near future - to measure relativistic effects in a yet unexplored regime and the properties of the black hole itself, such as its angular momentum. The yet poorly understood presence of young, massive stars in the immediate vicinity of Sagittarius A* appears to point the way to so far unexplored modes of star formation. Because of its close vicinity, the center of the Milky Way is also the ideal testbed for theory, such as models of highly sub-Eddington accretion, for stellar dynamics near a supermassive black hole, star formation in galactic nuclei, etc.

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.
You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).
Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.
You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).
If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
