RAINER ABART:
Geboren 1963 in Mödling bei Wien, ist seit September
2009 Professor für Theoretische und Experimentelle
Petrologie an der Universität Wien. 1982-88 Studium
der Geologie an der Universität Wien, 1994 Promotion
an der ETH Zürich im Fach Petrologie. 1994-95
Forschungsaufenthalte in Zürich, Lausanne und Oslo.
1995 bis 2001 Universitätsassistent an der Karl-Franzens-
Universität Graz, Habilitation 2001 ebendort über
Fluidtransport während der Gesteinsmetamorphose.
2001-04 Assistenzprofessor für Petrologie an der Universität
Basel, 2004-09 Professor für Petrologie an der
Freien Universität Berlin. Seit 2005 Chefredakteur der
Zeitschrift „Mineralogy and Petrology“.
Forschungsschwerpunkte: Petrologie der magmatischen
und metamorphen Gesteine, Geo-Materialforschung,
Diff usion in Polykristallen, Texturentwicklung während
Mineralreaktion und Deformation, Fluid-Gesteins-Interaktion,
Theoretische Petrologie – thermodynamische
und kinetische Modellierung.
